This Christmas season has been crazy. On top of the work stuff and life stuff are my added responsibilities as a worship leader at my church. Sure, planning a Christmas service sounds like fun in theory, but trust me it's work. More challenging than anything is trying to find the balance between choosing songs that people want to hear and finding a place of true worship. This year, I really felt challenged to push passed what may be seen as tradition and try and experience God on a deeper level. Not in a "what can we do different way" but in a "what does God have for this church body today" way.
The one song I knew I had received was "A Little Longer" by Jenn Johnson. So powerful and simple and I believe relevant for the season. Here are the other songs we played:
1. Do you hear what I hear?
2. Glory in the Highest - Shane Banard/Shane Everett
3. Sing My Love - Sarah McMillan (We did the JesusCulture arrangement)
4. A Little Longer - Jenn Johnson
For the first time on this blog, I've actually posted a recording of myself. This is our version of "A Little Longer." The audio is off the board so not perfect, but I think you can hear the power of the message pretty clearly. Just click the play button at the top of this post.

Tommy and I just listened to that song. Thank you for being a blessing! It was anointed.

Bravo!!! You did it. You asked God what He wanted and didn't bend with what you thought the people wanted! Keep listening, keep seeking, keep following His lead.
I look forward to 2009 and where God is taking us as a church and us as a music minisrty.
Thanks for sharing the song...it made me feel apart of what I had missed. It was hard missing the service, but it was a blessing to go get my son.

Great Job on the song matt! Luciano thought your voice sounded a bit like Mac Powell from Third Day.
